The 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar will be held like any other football tournament. The finals draw will take place in April 2022, after the March international fixtures.

It will be connected to your personal preferences, green and personalized. It will be the first major football tournament in the world in the Middle East and the first FIFA World Cup where the stadiums are so closely connected that fans can easily take part in two matches in one day.

None of the FIFA World Cup stadiums in Qatar will have more than an hour to travel. This means fans can celebrate their favorite team at Al Janoub Stadium, south of Doha in the afternoon – and soak up the atmosphere at Al Bayt Stadium in the northern city of Al Khor in the same evening.

What is the format of 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar?

Qatar will have 32 teams in the 2022 FIFA World Cup, who will compete in four groups.

The group stage will feature four games per day, which will run for 12 days in the winners and runners-up round of 16.

After the final draw, the matches will be scheduled only in certain places. To increase the number of viewers it will be selected optimal kick-off times for viewers around the world.

The final draw will be held in April 2022 at the end of the international match in March.

When is the World Cup?  The world cup will take place between November 21, 2022 and December 18, 2022.  The upcoming qualification stage for the World Cup will take place throughout 2021 and into 2022.  The draw is expected to take place April 2022.  We will update the World Cup schedule and other information as teams, times, and locations are announced.

How to qualify around the world?


There are 55 European nations comprising 10 groups of 5 or 6 teams. The 10 group winners will go direct to the finals. The final three places will be decided via playoffs. This will involve the 10 runners-up plus the two best-ranked group winners from the 2020-2021 .

UEFA Nations League:

France, Belgium, Italy, Spain, Wales, Austria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovenia, Montenegro, Albania, Armenia, Gibraltar, Faroe Islands.

South America (CONMEBOL):

All 10 South American nations play each other home and away.

The top four nations will earn a direct route to the finals, with the fifth placed team entered into an intercontinental playoff (draw as soon).

North America, Central America, Caribbean (CONCACAF):

Total  35 FIFA countries, most of which are lower-ranked in world football.

Costa Rica, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico and the United States joined the top FIFA rankings and Canada, El Salvador and Panama won in the first round of the qualifiers.

Eight teams will play each other at home and away (14 match) with the top three teams qualifying for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

The fourth-placed team will fight for a place in Qatar through an intercontinental playoff.

Africa (CAF):

CAF consists of 54 eligible FIFA-approved countries, with 28 lowest-ranked nations to secure their place in the group stage draw for the second round in a two-legged match in September 2019.

14 winner joins 26 higher class countries, thus 4teams form 10 groups of teams. The group winners of these 10 groups reach the final round and finally qualify.

The 10 group winners are then drawn into five head-to-head, two legged ties. The eventual winners of these ties then secure one of the five available spots at 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar.

Group B: Tunisia, Zambia, Mauritania, Equatorial Guinea

Group C: Nigeria, Cape Verde, Central African Republic, Liberia

Group E: Mali, Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda

Group F: Egypt, Gabon, Libya, Angola

Group G: Ghana, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Ethiopia

Group H: Senegal, Congo, Namibia, Togo

Group I: Morocco, Guinea, Guinea-Biisau, Sudan

Group J: DR Congo, Benin, Madagascar, Tanzania

Asia (AFC):

The AFC section of World Cup qualifying comprises 46 teams, with initial stages of qualification featuring the 12 lowest ranked nations. Guam, Macau, Mongolia, Timor-Leste, Bangladesh and Cambodia progressed.

For round three, the 12 nations were drawn into two groups of six teams. Group winners and runners-up ultimately qualifying for the World Cup. The teams competing are as follows:

Group A: Iran, South Korea, United Arab Emirates, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon
Group B: Japan, Australia, Saudi Arabia, China, Oman, Vietnam

The teams finishing third in round three played a two-legged playoff, with the winners advancing to an inter-confederation playoff.

Oceania (OFC):

With 11 FIFA-affiliated countries taking part, the teams in one round are divided into two groups based on their FIFA rankings. The top two countries in each group make progress.

In the second round, the four teams will play a home and away semifinal and a final to advance to the intercontinental playoffs.

What time will the matches be held?

The first two round matches will start at 1pm, 1pm, 4pm, 7pm and 10pm in Mecca.

The kick-off matches of the last round of the group games and the knock-out round matches will be played in Mecca at 10pm and 10pm.

The final Match will start at 6pm in Mecca.
