Prominent author Salman Rushdie has been taken off a ventilator and is recovering after being repeatedly stabbed during an on-stage attack in West New York on Friday that left him hospitalized.
Rushdie’s agent, Andrew Wylie, said Sunday: “He’s off the ventilator, making some progress. Salman Rushdie’s recovery will take a long time — the injuries are serious. But he’s going in the right direction.”

Hadi Matar suspect has pleaded not guilty
